Visit by Central Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The new executive of the Central Regional Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the School of Business, University of Cape Coast. The executives included Mr. A. Yoofi Pokoo-Aikens, Chairman; Mr. George Ben Smith, Vice Chairman; Ms. Abena Kankam, Chamber Treasurer; Mr. Samuel Ofori, Executive Member and Mr. George Harry Arthur, Executive Member. The team was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of the Chamber, Ms. Benedicta Anita Mensah.   The main purpose of the visit was to introduce the new executive to the Management of the School and also to explore the possible areas of collaboration. In a brief welcome address, the Dean of the School of Business congratulated the executive and indicated that the School was ready to partner the Chamber to provide technical support and training to young entrepreneurs in the region. He mentioned that, to this effect, the School has established the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprise Development and the University of Cape Coast Business Incubator.   The Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. A. Yoofi Pokoo-Aikens indicated the need for the Chamber to partner with the School in order to bridge the gap between academia and industry. A memorandum of Understanding is to be signed soon for the benefit of parties.   The Team of the School of Business that met the delegation included Prof. Edward Marfo-Yiadom – Dean; Prof. F. O. Boachie-Mensah – Head, Department of Management Studies; Mrs. Georgina Asi Owusu – Assistant Registrar/Faculty Officer; Mr. Alfred Ghartey – Junior Assistant Registrar;  and Ms. Cecilia Hayford – Senior Administrative Assistant.
