Pro Vice-Chancellor Confers with Dr. Timothy Wingert

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene, has received in audience a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Timothy A. Wingert, from the University of Incarnate, USA.

The visit by Dr. Wingert formed part of efforts aimed at deepening academic ties and strengthening the existing collaboration between University of Incarnate and UCC through the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences (DOVS).

In his remark, Dr. Wingert expressed gratitude to UCC for the wonderful hospitality and said the two institutions would share best practices in optometry.

For her part, Prof. Boohene welcomed Dr. Wingert to the University and said since the running of optometry in UCC, access to primary eye care had improved considerably in Ghana.

She pointed out that the importance of eye health could not be overemphasized and lauded the existing collaboration between the two Universities.

The Vice Dean of the Office of International Relations, Dr. Bert Boadi Kusi and the Clinic Coordinator at DOVS, Dr. Charles Darko-Takyi, accompanied Dr. Wingert on the visit.

In another development, a delegation from the International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) has paid a courtesy call on the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rosemond Boohene, at her office.

The visit, according to the leader of the delegation, Prof. Prem Bindraban, was to discuss the existing partnership between IFDC and the Department of Geography and Regional Planning.

 

In her response, Prof. Boohene thanked the delegation for the visit and urged the IFDC to continually assist the Department.
