Institute of Education Honours Prof. Frederick Ocansey

The Institute of Education (IOE), UCC, has held a Send-off Ceremony to honour the immediate past Director, Prof. Frederick Ocansey.


In her welcome address, the Director, IOE, Prof. Christine Adu-Yeboah, stated that the purpose of the ceremony was to celebrate and honour the former Director for his service to the Institute during his tenure. She commended him for his good leadership and the due diligence he exhibited towards his responsibilities at the Institute. 

Appreciation


In his response, Prof. Ocansey expressed his profound gratitude to the new leadership of the Institute for the honour done him. He thanked Management of the University for the confidence reposed in him to work as the Director of the Institute. Prof. Ocansey said, “It was an opportunity but a great responsibility to serve in that capacity for the University and the nation.” He encouraged the new leadership of the Institute to work hard to safeguard the reputation of UCC, especially in terms of Teacher Professional Education in Ghana. He acknowledged the effort and support of all the academic and administrative staff of the Institute as well as the principals of all the Colleges of Education in the country. Prof. Ocansey assured his successor and the entire Institute of his support  

Be of Assistance to the New Director

The Vice-Chancellor, UCC, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, congratulated Prof. Frederick Ocansey for his dedicated and committed service to the University and the Institute. The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of Management of the University, applauded the former Director for the good manner he carried out his duties and responsibilities. He appealed to him to always be of assistance to the Institute when the need arose. 


The current leadership of IOE made a presentation of a citation and an undisclosed amount of cash to the former Director.


In attendance were the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, Provost, College of Education Studies,  Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame,  Provost, College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof. Francis Eric Amuquandoh, and Dean, School of Educational Development and Outreach (SEDO), Prof. George K. T. Oduro. Others were the Senior Assistant Registrar, Institute of Education, Mr. David Larbi, academic and administrative staff of the Institute.
