The UCC delegation with the Paramount Chief and elders of Agona Nyakrom

Delegation from UCC Visits Paramount Chief of Agona Nyakrom

A delegation from the University has called on the Paramount Chief and elders of Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region.

Purpose

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh, who led the delegation explained that the visit was to discuss some outstanding issues in relation to the College of Distance Education (CoDE) Training Resource Centre at Agona Nyakrom. The Pro Vice-Chancellor indicated that though work on the project had stalled for some time, she assured that the University had re-awarded the contract to complete it for use before the end of this year. “Very soon, a new contractor will come to the site to finish all outstanding work, “she reported.

Documentation

Prof. Edu-Buandoh noted that it was important to prepare a document on the land to forestall disputes. “This will help to prevent any legal tussle or confrontation between the traditional authorities and the University in future,” she added.

She appealed to the Omanhene to release a parcel of land in front of the project explaining that “The building is right at the boundary of the land and, therefore, there is no space for redesigning of the front view of the project. We are therefore, appealing to you to release the land in front of the project to afford us space to beautify the front view of the structure”.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Omanhene and his elders for their patience and cooperation. She said the project when completed would not only be beneficial to the University but also indigenes of the Agona Nyakrom.
