 An alumnus of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Evans Oppong, has pledged to establish annual scholarship opportunities for deserving students of the University.

Dr. Oppong, a United Nations ambassador and founder of the City of Faith Ministry, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, at his office.

Reconstituted members of UCC Council

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has inaugurated a 13-member Governing Council for the University of Cape Coast at a ceremony at the Ministry of Education, Accra.

The reconstituted Council is chaired by Justice William Anaam Atuguba, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Members of the Council are: Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong; Dr. Abdul Nasser Alidu and Ms. Shika Acolatse (Government Nominees).

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Governing Council at its Special Meeting held on Thursday,19th December, 2024, appointed Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University with effect from 1st January, 2025.

Prof. Aheto, who takes over from Prof. Rosemond Aboagyewaa Boohene, is a professor of Coastal Ecology and Interdisciplinary Ocean Studies.

He is currently the Director of Centre for Coastal Management/ Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR).
