The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has presented 30 laptops and accessories to members of the Association of Students with Disabilities in University.

The laptops have been installed with Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) software to make its use simpler for the visually impaired.

The University of Cape Coast Basic School –North Campus, formerly known as Basic School Annex has held its 2nd Speech and Prize Giving Day on the theme ‘The Role of Self-Discipline in Achieving Academic Excellence.’

In his address, the Vice Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Kankam Boadu, called on the pupils to remain focused, determined, diligent, time conscious, and hardworking. He said that, for a student to become academically excellent, he/ she must be God fearing, respectful, self-disciplined, dutiful and punctual in his/ her academic endeavours.

The Institute of Education has presented a Toyota Hilux vehicle to the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management (DPDEM) at a short ceremony on campus.

The vehicle is to facilitate the movement of staff of DPDEM to monitor the Institute of Education Guest House project on campus as well as other projects within and outside campus.

The Confucius Institute has celebrated its second anniversary with both Chinese and Ghanaian cultural performances at the Main Auditorium.

Speaking at the function, the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamina Duncan, commended the University for hosting the Institute to promote the Chinese Language and culture and also extending it to other educational institutions in the region. He assured that the Regional Coordinating Council would ensure a peaceful environment to make the region secure for the Confucius Institute to develop and achieve its objectives.

The University of Cape Coast has hosted the 3rd Annual Ghana Sociological and Anthropological Association (GSSA) Conference on the theme ‘The Social Sciences and the Sustainable Development Goals.’

The two day programme had members from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Technology (KNUST), and University of Development Studies (UDS) attending.

The National Varietal Release and Registration Council (NVRRC) of the Ministry of Agriculture has approved four new varieties of cowpea developed by a team of researchers from the University of Cape Coast.

The four new varieties are climate resilient and high yielding cowpea genotypes adaptable to the coastal savannah areas in Ghana and will boost high production in the three regions in Northern Ghana where Striga infestation and drought are major challenges to farmers.
