The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Cooperative Credit Union has held a collaborative and interactive session with a representative from the Boeing Employees' Credit Union (BECU), Washington DC, Ms. Sacheen Winston.
The engagement aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration, sharing operational experiences, and strengthening international relations.
Welcoming Ms. Winston to the UCC campus, the Chairperson of the UCC Credit Union, Mrs. Charity Abraham, expressed her appreciation for the visit and shared a brief history of the union. She highlighted some key achievements of the union, noting that it is currently ranked among the top five credit unions in the Central Region of Ghana.
"Our target is to become a leading credit union in Ghana," she emphasised, adding that the visit by Ms. Winston marked a significant step towards the union’s ambition of building international partnerships.
"I believe that our quest to have an international partnership starts from today with your visit," Mrs. Abraham stated.

She further elaborated on the union’s commitment to youth engagement, indicating that one of their strategic goals was to encourage young people to become members.
“We are focused on the youth and we are reaching them through social media,” she noted.
In addition, Mrs. Abraham highlighted the union’s dedication to gender equality and inclusiveness.
Ms. Sacheen Winston, who serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant at BECU, shared insights into her role and the operations of her credit union. She commended UCC Credit Union for its gender-balanced leadership and inclusive staff structure.
“I am extremely impressed with the female representation of your leadership and staff,” she stated.
Speaking further, Ms. Winston underscored the importance of inclusivity as a driver of institutional growth.
Following an engaging question-and-answer session with staff and members of the UCC Credit Union, Ms. Winston expressed optimism about the future relationship between the two institutions.
