Three members of staff from the University of Bordeaux, France have called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole at his residence. The team was at the University to find possible means of collaboration with some faculty and departments of the University. The team was led by Ana-Marie included Beatrice Boyer, and Jean Christophe Lapouble. Ana-Marie said they had fruitful and far-reaching discussions with the Department of French, UCC to set the ball rolling for an effective relationship between the two institutions.
The Chancellor, Sir (Dr.) Sam Esson Jonah has undertaken a tour of some on-going construction projects at the University. As part of his schedule, he also held separate meetings with Provosts, Deans and Directors and leadership of all unionized groups on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. D. Kuupole has stated that the University of Cape Coast will continue to chart innovative paths in responding to national needs through effective teaching, research and community engagement. “We have continued to significantly transform our knowledge base, the curricula, mode of delivery and academic support for graduate studies”, he stated. Prof. Kuupole said this during the 5th Session of the 48th Congregation of the University where 1915 graduands were awarded various Postgraduate degrees.
An Associate Professor at the Department of French, Prof. Atta Britwum has stated that Kwame Nkrumah’s Consciencism can be described as a philosophy and ideology for attaining socialism. He argued that the basis of Kwame Nkrumah’s Consciencism was nationalist but not economic in nature.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro, has expressed the need to instill critical thinking in the current Ghanaian students. He said, critical thinking was fast eroding from students discourse. He made this call when the leadership of Ghana Universities Debate Association paid a courtesy call to inform him of the forthcoming National Debate to be hosted by the University of Cape Coast.
The Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Sir (Dr.) Sam Jonah, has received a lifetime achievement award at the West African edition of the Ernst and Young (EY) World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, held in Lagos, Nigeria on Friday February 5, 2016. The EY Entrepreneur Awards recognises the world’s most successful and innovative entrepreneurs by identifying and acknowledging their outstanding achievements within successful growing of dynamic businesses.
The La-Wuogon Muslim Trust, a Local NGO has donated twenty Sony ICD-BX140 voice recorders to the University Library. The presentation was held at the Resource Centre for Alternative Media and Assistive Technology in the University Main Library. The donation was facilitated by the Campus Volunteer Foundation to assist the visually impaired students in their studies.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. G. K. T. Oduro has undertaken his third and final tour to both academic and administrative offices of the University to introduce himself and also familiarize with heads and other members of staff.
The Managing Director of the Sasakawa Africa Fund for Extension Education, Dr. Deola Naibakelao has called on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro in his office.
