UCC lecturers have been urged to support Management to implement the COVID-19 measures and protocols when the University re-opens for final-year students.
The Head of UCC COVID-19 Rapid Response Taskforce, Dr. James Prah, made the call when he gave a presentation on the theme “Return of Students to Campus in the Face of COVID-19: What Lecturers Should Know” at A Virtual Seminar organised by the University Teachers Association (UTAG), UCC branch.
Waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has embarked on disinfection and fumigation exercise on campus as part of arrangements to re-open the University for final year students.
The team fumigated and disinfected all the halls of residence, lecture theatres, and other academic areas of the University.
The University Health Service has received personal protection equipment (PPE) from the Hunan City University, China, to help protect personnel working in the facility.
The items include 20 boxes of face masks and 10 protective clothing.
The School of Business has held its maiden e-seminar on the theme “Coronavirus Pandemic, and Household Financial Anxiety and Wellbeing”.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Alumni in the Central and Western Regions has presented 750 pieces of face masks to members of the Teachers and Education Workers' Union (TEWU) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) at a short ceremony on campus.
The Association also distributed 250 masks to taxi drivers, passengers, and food vendors at the taxi ranks at both the South and North campuses of the University.
The University Health Service has received a donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and sanitary items from the Cape Coast Area of the Church of Pentecost at a short ceremony held at the forecourt of the Central Regional Health Directorate.
The items included Veronica buckets, gloves, face masks, protective boots, gallons of sanitizer, and detergent.
The UCC 1998 Alumni Year Group has donated sanitary items and medical equipment valued at GH ¢75, 000 to the University Health Services as part of efforts to fight COVID-19.
The items included gallons of detergents, hand sanitizers, and seven nebulizers.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, Dr. Daniel Asare, has donated two sets of Cadiothocograph and their accessories valued at $20, 000 to the University Hospital.
The Association of Concerned Cape Coast Citizens and Residents (ACCCCAR) has presented sanitary items to the University Hospital to protect staff and clients from contracting COVID-19.
The items included two veronica buckets with stands, bottles of hand sanitizers, and some packets of tissue papers.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora Edu-Buandoh has presented shopping vouchers and other items to international students of the University who are still staying on campus as a result of the closure of Ghana’s borders.
