The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has honoured 38 retiring staff members after several years of service to the University.

The retirees, who served the UCC between 10 and 42 years, were made up of 20 Senior Members, 12 Senior Staff and 10 Junior staff members.

They received refrigerators, gas cookers with cylinders, set of living room furniture, televisions with a TV guard and citations.

A delegation led by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mrs. Julia Selman Ayetey, has presented the Ellen A. Awuletey moot court competition trophy to the Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof. Daniel Agyapong.

Law students who represented the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Faculty of Law  have won the maiden edition of  hosted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). 

Oguaa Hall, has honoured its staff for their dedication and service at the maiden Staff and Students Awards ceremony held at the Aluta Square.

Hardworking staff and students with first class affiliated with the Hall were presented with certificates and cash prizes.

Special prizes were also given to former Hall wardens and Hall tutors.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) has celebrated its first Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) graduates at a special dinner held on campus.

The pioneer class achieved a 100% distinction rate in the 2025 Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examination (GPPQE), marking a historic milestone for the School.

Some Ghanaian adults cite age and family responsibilities as reasons that discourage them from pursuing higher education or studying at even the lower levels. 

But Mr. Joseph Aheto, father of the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof. Denis Aheto, defied all these and graduated in MBA Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprise Development Studies at the advanced age of 81 in December 2025, during the 9th session of the 58th congregation of the university. 

A total of 4,154 students who pursued various postgraduate programmes at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have graduated at the 58th Congregation of the University.

At the 9th session, 1,904 graduates who pursued programmes in Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, and postgraduate diplomas graduated.

The Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Sir Sam Jonah, has urged members of the University community to put the recent leadership crisis behind them and unite to address the modern-day challenges facing universities worldwide.

 "The challenges before us in Africa - climate change, public health, food security, governance, digital transformation will not be resolved by theory alone, they require research that engages the real world, informs policies, builds enterprises and improve lives," he added.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has urged graduates of the Class of 2025 to be innovators, ethical leaders, and problem-solvers who will uplift communities and contribute meaningfully to national development.

He reminded the graduates that they had been empowered with the requisite knowledge and skills to enable them make positive impact in the society and the world at large, stressing: “We expect you to give back to society.”

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has graduated a total of 5,100  students of the College of Distance Education (CoDE) at the first and second sessions of the University’s 58th Congregation.

The first session which awarded degrees and diplomas to 1,401 students was dedicated to Northern, Upper West, Bono, Upper East, North East, Ahafo, Bono East, Savannah and Ashanti Region.

The second session was dedicated to students from the Ashanti and Eastern.

The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto, has paid a courtesy call on the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Denis Aheto, in his office.

The visit was to enable the Japanese Embassy in Ghana to deepen relations with the University.
