Applications are invited from qualified candidates to take up appointments at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, in the following areas.

1.      Nursing

  1. Midwifery and Child Health
  2. Mental Health Nursing
  3. Public Health Nursing

Ranks

1.      Lecturer

2.      Senior Lecturer

3.      Associate Professor

4.      Professor

 

1.0       Lecturer

The candidate must:

a)      possess Membership (NMCG) qualification;

OR

b)      have Fellowship qualification;

OR

c)      possess a Ph.D. in a related field of study.

 

The following qualities will be added advantage:

d)      have a strong research background and professional experience.

e)      have some substantial teaching and industry experience.

f)       have demonstrated potential and interest to conduct research and to excel in teaching; and

g)      demonstrate experience in supervising students research work at the undergraduate level.

h)      have a commitment to excellent teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

 

2.0       Senior Lecturer

The candidate must:

a)      satisfy the academic qualifications specified for lectureship appointment under 1.0 above;

b)      have served for a minimum of four (4) years; and

c)      have Fellowship qualification plus a minimum of five (5) refereed publications;

OR

d)      possess Fellowship qualification;

e)      have at least two (2) years Fellowship teaching experience;

f)       have at least five (5) refereed publications in his/her area of specification;

OR

g)      possess a Ph.D. in a related field after Membership qualification;

h)      have at least two (2) years post Ph.D. qualification teaching experience; and

i)       have a least five (5) refereed publications in his/her area of specialization.

 

The following qualities will be added advantage:

 

j)       must have substantial teaching and industry experience.

k)      must demonstrate good experience in publishing in international Journals or exhibit potential for conducting research.

l)       must have a strong background and professional experience.

m)   demonstrate experience in supervising students research work at the post graduate and undergraduate level.

n)      have served for a minimum of four (4) years as a Lecturer in a University or analogous institution. Maximum age is 50 years.

 

3.0       Associate Professor

The candidate must

a)      satisfy the academic qualifications specified for Senior Lecturer under 2.0 above;

b)      possess a Ph.D. in a related field of study;

c)      have at least seven (7) refereed publications in his/her area of specialization since his/her last appointment as Senior Lecturer. The publications must be passed by external assessors or a total of twelve (12) publications since appointment as Lecturer; and

d)      have taught for a minimum of four (4) years in a Senior Lecturer in a university or analogous institution.

 

The following qualities will be added advantage:

e)      demonstrate experience in supervising students research work at the Postgraduate level.

f)       he must be able to produce any other evidence of research/ professional activity.

g)      have a very strong research background and professional experience Maximum age is 55 years

 

4.0       Professor

The candidate must.

a)      satisfy the academic qualification specific for the rank of Associate Professor under 3.0 above; however, a Ph.D. in the relevant field of specialization is required for appointment to this rank;

b)      have taught for a minimum of two (2) years as Associate Professor or have a considerable number of years of teaching/research experience in a university or comparable institution;

c)      have at least eight (8) refereed publications in his/her area of specialization since his/her appointment as an Associate Professor or must have a total of twenty (20) refereed publications since appointment as Senior Lecturer. In all cases, the publications and should be passed by external assessors.

 

The following qualities will be added advantage:

d)      possess a PhD qualification in the relevant field of specialization

e)      he must be able to produce any other evidence of research/ professional

 

The appointment of professorial rank shall be by tenure.
