ASHFOAM Presents Cheque for the Construction of Twin Lawn Tennis Courts

ASFOAM has provided funds for the construction of Twin Lawn Tennis Courts at the Senior Club House

Ashanti Foam Factory Limited (ASHFOAM), a leading manufacturing company in Ghana and the West African Region has presented a cheque of G¢58, 700 for the construction of the state-of-the-art  twin lawn tennis courts for the University of Cape Coast at the Senior Club House, North Campus.

The project is expected to be completed in three months’ time.

Speaking at the Sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of   the project, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang noted that the event was an evidence of good relationship with ASHFOAM, a dependable partner of UCC over the years. She stressed that “this occasion has really offered us the opportunity to realize the public/private partnership.” 

Prof.  Naana Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that “the potential of sports to unite people is very strong” and therefore, commended ASHFOAM for the generosity. She finally encouraged the University community to patronise the facility so that it would live up to its usefulness.

On his part, the Communications Manager of ASHFOAM Mr. Joe Ampem-Darko, indicated that the funding of the project formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to the development of education in Ghana. He also observed that the gesture was to contribute to the healthy lifestyle of staff of UCC adding that “a sound mind and a sound body produce excellent work.”

Mr. Ampem-Darko, noted that ASHFOAM recently received certification from the International Standard Organisation due to the crucial role of partners like UCC and the quality of foam products they continue to produce over the 30 years of operation in the country. He expressed the hope that the  facility would be of immense benefit to the University Community.
