Agona District Assembly honours Vice-Chancellor, Prof. E. A. Obeng ...

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, a native of Agona Nsaba in the Central Region of Ghana, was honoured by the Agona District Assembly on March 7, 2007 during the Ghana Golden Jubilee Awards ceremony held in the District. The citation that accompanied the award noted, among other things, that the Reverend Professor • was the first Agona educationist to be appointed to the high office of Vice-Chancellor of a leading University in Ghana, the University of Cape Coast, • had encouraged the promotion of distance education in the Ghana, presided over the expansion of academic programmes and ensured increased access to tertiary education through increased admissions to the University of Cape Coast, • been a great source of inspiration to the youth pursuing academic laurels, • served on numerous national and international University bodies, and • contributed immensely to the religious, spiritual and moral upbringing of the youth of the country through his work as a Reverend Minister at the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Cape Coast. The citation was signed by Hon. T.E. Osam-Duodu, Presiding Member of the Agona District Assembly and Hon. Ben Mensah, District Chief Executive.
