Donations to School of Medical Sciences
The newly established School of Medical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast has received some equipment and medical journals valued at about $15,000 from Mrs. Wilhelmina A. Graves, Chief Administrative Assistant at the Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s Office, UCC. The donation was from the estate of her late husband, Dr. Christian Rhule Graves and included a Reflotron and a Coagutchek, all with accessories, and some editions of the New England Journal of Medicine.
Presenting the items at a short but impressive ceremony held in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Graves said the donation was part of her contribution to the new School and a way of immortalizing the memory of her late husband. The Vice-Chancellor, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Adow Obeng, who received the items on behalf of the School, thanked Mrs. Graves for the kind gesture and assured her that the items would not only be handled with utmost care but will also be put to very good use. The founding Dean of the School, Professor Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi also thanked Mrs. Graves for the donation. He was particularly impressed by the fact that Mrs. Graves decided to donate the items to the University’s School of Medical Sciences and not to any other organization. He urged other members of the University Community to emulate Mrs. Graves’ shinning example.
Also present at the ceremony was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Haruna Yakubu.
