The University of Cape Coast has been selected by the International Council on Education for Teaching (ICET) to host the World Assembly in July 2012.

Theme

The Changing Global Perspective on Teacher Education and Leadership Development.

Call for Papers

Under the broad theme: “The Changing Global Perspectives on Teacher Education and Leadership Development” , invitation is extended to all interested people wishing to present a paper to submit a 500- word abstract under any of the sub-themes listed below:

1. Leadership for Learning and Instruction
Submissions will include research and conceptual papers that discuss individuals, group or systemic effects to lead growth in student learning. What knowledge, skills and dispositions must leaders have to meet the expectations for 21st century learners.

2. Sustainable Teacher Education for the 21st Century
Submissions will include research and conceptual papers that discuss the development, design and implementation of teacher education programs that build teacher capacity to promote sustainable development in their country.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation of Teaching and Instruction
Submissions will discuss the use of monitoring and evaluation techniques including peer observation, principal evaluation, teaching portfolios, value added models, self reports, classroom artifacts and student evaluations

4. Educating Learners with Special Needs: New Trends
Submissions will discuss the contributions of research, technology and teacher preparation to the improvement of outcomes for learners with special needs.

5. Assessment, Accreditation and Quality Assurance.
Submissions will discuss initiatives or the implications of aligning institutions providing teacher education with accountability and quality assurance requirements, or the impact of practice in developing quality teaching and leadership in primary and secondary schools.
