UCC and BUK sign MOU

A four-member team from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Nigeria, has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor to discuss and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in respect of bilateral relations between the two universities.

The team, led by the Vice-Chancellor of BUK, Prof. Attahiru M. Jega was in the country to attend a programme organized to consider the benefits, impacts, and challenges of the SAFE Prograrnme. The Vice-Chancellor of BUK expressed his appreciation to the University of Cape Coast for the “warm welcome and the generous hospitality” accorded them and noted that the two universities could have mutually beneficial collaborations through research and sabbatical exchanges.

Prof. Jega also said BUK would initiate collaborative programmes which would enable it to benefit from UCC’s expertise, especially in the French discipline.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, (UCC), Prof. Haruna Yakubu, who welcomed the visitors indicated the possibility of transforming the Office of Graduate Studies into a School. This projection was reiterated by the Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof. Naana J. OpokuAgyemang when she gave an overview of her Office (Graduate Studies). Prof. Jega signed the MOU on behalf of his institution while Rev. Prof. E. A. Obeng and the Director of CIE, Dr. K. Opoku-Agyemang, initialed on behalf of UCC.
