New SRC/NUGS Executives Sworn into Office
A new SRC/NUGS Executives for the 2008/9 academic year have been sworn into office at a short ceremony held at the University Auditorium, North Campus.
The new SRC Executives are Mr. Richard Nii Armah, President; Ms. Anastasia Asante, Vice-President; Ms. Eva Mensah, Secretary; Mr. Samuel Kofi Asiamah, Treasurer; and Mr. Agyeman Boafo, General Sports Secretary. The Local NUGS Executives included Mr. Francis Appea, President; Mr. Sulemana Seidu, Secretary; and Mr. Raymond Obodai Morgan, as Treasurer.
In a short address, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. E.A. Obeng assured the new student leaders of his continuous and unflinching support. He then advised them to eschew the practice of sideling the University Authority by working within the confines of the University Regulations.
The Vice-Chancellor observed that he was always filled with anxiety whenever, new leaders were sworn into office, but his fears fizzled into thin air because the relationship between the leaders and the University Authority becomes cordial with time.
Earlier at the ceremony, the out-going SRC President, Mr. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, outlined the gains his team had made, including the SRC bus which had now been fully paid for, the on-going SRC Students' Hostel, refurbishment of the SRC Office, as well as other projects which the SRC had embarked on. He urged the incoming executives to endeavour to complete the projects as a matter of urgency.
In an acceptance speech, the new SRC President, Mr. Richard Nii Armah acknowledged the good stewardship of the out-going SRC team and promised to continue the good works of his predecessor and also to work closely with the University Authority for the betterment of UCC.
The Deputy Registrar of the Division of Human Resource, Mr. P.K. Arhin, who represented the Registrar, administered the oath of office.
