Four-story Students Hostel To Be Constructed
Four-story Students Hostel To Be Constructed
Axis Ventures, a US-based firm engaged in the provision of equipment, buildings and telecom facilities, has presented a preliminary proposal to the University for the construction of a four-storey students hostel with 324 rooms to ease accommodation problems on campus.
The Chairman/CEO of the firm, Mr. Kofi A. Tawiah, who led the team indicated that it was a follow-up visit to ascertain the status of a letter of intent to the University on the issue.
Responding to the presentation, a Senior Architect at the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management (DPDEM), Mr. Anthony Atta-Bosompem thanked Axis Ventures for its zeal to venture into the provision of hostels, and said that the follow-up visit was an indication of the firm’s preparedness to pursue the project. He explained that the management of the hostel would entirely be in the hands of Axis Ventures but the land for the project would be under a 50-year lease agreement with a commitment fee of $6000.
Both parties have therefore agreed to wait for the presentation of a final report from the Landed Committee to determine whether or not the proposal was tenable. To this end, Mr. Tawiah gave the assurance that since the proposal presented was a preliminary one, a comprehensive proposal would be provided on receipt of a response to the letter of intent.
The team was later led to tour campus to identify possible areas for the project.
