SGSR to be established

The Academic Board of the University has approved the establishment of a School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) to begin next Academic Year to oversee the training of graduate students.

The objective for the establishment of the SGSR is, among other things, "to ensure the relevance of graduate programmes for the promotion of economic, social, scientific and technological development of Ghana and Africa."

With the introduction of SGSR, the Board of Graduate Studies will cease to exist with effect from July 30, 2008 and its functions and responsibilities taken over by the School of Graduate Studies and Research.

It will be recalled that in the Tuesday, September 11, 2007, edition of the Campus Update, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Yakubu gave a hint of the establishment of the school during a discussion with a delegation from the Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
