Security men impound vehicles on campus
A joint team of security personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service and the Security Section of this University has impounded over 70 vehicles on campus for committing various traffic offences. This followed an exercise which the team undertook on April 21 - 26, 2008 to rid off rickety and unlicensed vehicles, vehicles with invalid documents and to deal with drivers without valid licenses on campus.
Briefing the Campus Update, the Chief Security Officer, Lt. (Ghana Navy) David Koku (Rtd) said that the offenders had been handed over to the MTTU and those with serious offences "would be processed for court to face the law." He indicated that vehicles impounded included commercial vehicles and other vehicles belonging to some staff of the University.
The Chief Security Officer cautioned that since the exercise was on-going, all staff were to ensure that their vehicles have valid documents and users also possess valid driving licenses to avoid any embarrassment.
