GASS holds exhibition

The Ghana Association of Agricultural Students holds exhibition

The Ghana Association of Agricultural Students (GAAS), UCC has held an exhibition to sell products which they had developed and produced from the Teaching and Research Farm (University Farm )at the North Campus.

Items exhibited were gari (kwik meal soakings), lettuce, cabbage, green pepper and moringa, gari mixed with milk, sugar and cocoa while another was gari mixed with milk, sugar and groundnut.

The exhibition formed part of GAAS’ 28th National Green Week Celebration held recently on the theme “Food Security, the Challenge is Ours.” Reacting to questions from “Campus Update,” the Project Co-ordinator of GAAS, Mr. Joseph Gyimah Boampong said the objective for organizing the exhibition was two fold. Firstly, to publicise their products and secondly, to call on the University Community to patronise the University Farm products because of quality and competitive prices.

The Co-ordinator further explained that gari products exhibited were the results of a business plan which the students developed as part of their Entrepreneurial training.

Mr. Boampong said that part of the proceeds from the sale of the gari products would be used to pay Hords Ltd, Accra, the company which packaged the products and any profit realized would be used to promote the activities of GAAS.
