Four donates to UCCSMS
Four philanthropists have jointly donated educational materials comprising books and computers with accessories valued at $5800 to the School of Medical Sciences (SMC), at a short ceremony held at the forecourt of the SMS, North Campus. Receiving the donation the Dean of the School of Medical Sciences, Prof. Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi expressed appreciation for the gesture and noted that “such events and experiences represented milestones that give the impression that the School was growing”. Prof. Amonoo-Kuofi observed further that such gifts were “encouragements and push, for it is people who love you that will help you to pursue targets you have set for yourself.” He said the monetary value of the books was not the core aspect of scholarship, but what they contain, adding that he was always fulfilled whenever he got the information he was looking for from a book. The Dean said the kind of training medical students were undergoing in the Medical School “gave full dimension of the kind of doctors the University wants to produce”, and that ‘all donors should see themselves as stakeholders in the advancement of the objectives of the School.’ All the donors who spoke during ceremony indicated how it was such a great opportunity to give back to “society what the society had earlier on given to them”. The Librarian, Mr. Clement Entsuah-Mensah who represented the Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the donors and hoped that the items would serve the purpose for which they were donated.
