Australian High Commissioner pays courtesy call on VC

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. E. A. Obeng has appealed to the Australian High Commissioner to assist the University to attract qualified professional staff for the UCC School of Medical Sciences.

Rev. Prof. Obeng who made the remarks when the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency, Mr. J. Richardson paid a courtesy call on him observed that faculty from this University could visit Australian institutions to acquaint themselves with current medical knowledge.

The Vice-Chancellor further appealed to the High Commissioner to assist in drilling boreholes for the University. He explained that the surrounding communities often relied on the University during water crisis, a situation which, in most cases, overburdened the University.

To this end, His Excellency Mr. Richardson promised to consider the Vice-Chancellor’s appeals, especially to link UCC with Australian organizations and institutions for collaborative purposes, including the field of research in which Australia is much advanced.

Present at the meeting were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Yakubu; the Registrar, Mr. S. Kofi Ohene; the Ag. Librarian, Mr. A. K. Martey; the Director of Finance, Mr. Caxton Oduro-Donkor; the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. D. D. Kuupole and the Head of the Department of History, Dr. S. Y. Boadi-Siaw.
