Sms receives donation

The Chief Medical Officer for Medical Services of GHAPOHA -Takoradi, Dr. Bernard Boateng-Duah, has donated an “Acland’s DVD Atlas of Human Anatomy” to the University’s School of Medical Sciences at a short ceremony held in the Council Chamber, South Campus.   Presenting the package, Dr. Boateng revealed how he had contemplated donating the item to either the University of Ghana or the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. He said he settled on UCC because he felt the University’s Medical School was relatively young and would therefore require such an assistance.   Dr. Boateng explained that the DVD was an interactive software with a three dimensional dissected human being which makes learning easy and teaching simple.   He gave the assurance that third year students of the Medical School would be welcomed for attachment at the GHAPOHA Hospital.   Responding, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Yakubu expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and noted that “it could not have come at a better time”, adding “any future donations would be welcomed.” Professor Haruna said that UCC-SMS was one of a kind with a “Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology essential to public health delivery.”   Present at the ceremony were the Registrar, Mr. Isaac Ohene; the Deputy Registrar, DHR, Mr. P.K. Arhin; Director of Finance, Mr. Caxton-Oduro Donkor, Librarian, Mr. Clement Entsuah Mensah, and a lecturer at the Department of History, Dr. K.B. Maison.
