UNILEVER GHANA/ MYLES HAGAN CHAIR OF TEACHER EDUCATION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of:
CHAIR OF TEACHER EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST
Eligibility
Open to all, including serving staff of academic institutions in Ghana. A Ph.D or professorial status will be an advantage.
Tenure: Renewable tenure of one year.
The Candidate:

The selected candidate must be a distinguished scholar in Teacher Education or Assessment or Curriculum Design, Implementation and Evaluation, and must be familiar with curricula of the Basic Schools and Teacher Training Colleges in Ghana.

Duties

Occupant of the Chair will be required to provide leadership in the area of Teacher Education and help to elevate Teacher Education in general with the following duties In particular.
supervising graduate students in the area of Teacher Education or Curriculum and Instruction or Assessment;
advising the Faculty of Education and its various Departments on the structure and content of graduate and undergraduate programmes, and assisting the Faculty on research in curriculum, particularly as related to Teacher Education;
organizing seminars on Teacher Education and related issues;
helping to establish a link between the Faculty of Education and the Ministry of Education, Directorate of Teacher Education, CRDD and other bodies on Curriculum Development, and Teacher Education.
providing leadership in the promotion of Teacher Education;
forwarding a comprehensive report to Unilever Ghana Foundation for Education and Development, through the Vice Chancellor of U.C.C. at the end of the occupancy.
Applicants are to provide a Resume of their plans and how they intend to run the Chair to elevate Teacher Education in Ghana. This should be provided together with their applications.

Emolument
The selected candidate will receive normal university salary commensurate with his/ her status. In addition, there will be a salary supplementation of $5,000 per annum and a sum of $10,000 per annum to be used for research, equipment and accommodation.
