S.S.S Candidates
Senior Secondary School Applicants
Admission of Senior Secondary School Candidates to Degree Programs
Basic Entry Requirements
Candidates must have passes in six (6) subjects with overall aggregate of 24 (twenty four). Three of six subjects must be core subjects which include English Language, Integrated Science and Mathematics must be relevant electives. In addition to the above, candidates must satisfy faculty requirements as indicated below.
Faculty of Arts
Bachelor of Arts (Arts) Bachelor of Music
Candidates must have passes in at least two elective Arts subjects – French, History, Literature in English, Ghanaian Language (Akan/Ewe), Music, Religious Studies, Government. Applicants to be admitted to read French as part of their degree program should have a pass in French not below grade D. The Department of Music would interview all prospective music major students as well as those who may wish to combine music with other subjects. At the interview candidates will be expected to demonstrate proficiency on their own instruments, except when the Department has such instruments. Applicants who wish to study music but have not passed music at SSSCE level will write an entrance examination provided they satisfy the basic university entry requirements. Such applicants are advised to indicate this on their application form. The entrance examination date will be the same as the date for the Mature Students' examination. Faculty of Education
In addition to core English and core Mathematics candidates must pass in one of the following core subjects: Agriculture and Environmental Studies or Life Skills or Science.
Bachelor of Education (Primary Education)
Candidates must have passes in three (3) Elective subjects in General Arts and Science. Bachelor of Education (Foundations or Psychology)
Candidates must have passes in three (3) elective subjects in General Arts or Business.
Bachelor of Education (physical Education)
Candidates must posses passes in six (6) subjects including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science with overall aggregate of twenty four (24). Candidates would be subjected to a Motor Educability Test (Practical Examination).
Bachelor of Education (Social Sciences)
The elective passes should include Geography, Economics, History and Government.
Bachelor of Education (Arts)
The elective passes should include any three of the following: Literature in English, French, Akan/Ewe, History, Christian Religious Studies or West African Traditional Religion, Music and Government.
Bachelor of Education (Mathematics)
Candidates must have a pass in elective Mathematics. In addition, candidates must have (2) of the following elective subjects: Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Bachelor of Education (Science)
Candidates must have a pass in an elective Science subject. In addition, candidates must have two (2) of the following elective subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Bachelor Education (Home Economics)
a) at least a pass in Core Science; b) a minimum of D in at least two elective subjects in Home Economics. (It will be an advantage if the third elective subject is a science subject) OR At least two (2) elective science subjects. Candidates will be considered for one of the two areas of specialization (Clothing and Textiles or Food and Nutrition) based on their electives. Bachelor of Education (Population & Family Life Education) Candidates must obtain passes in Core English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science. In addition, candidates must have passes in Geography and any two other subjects in either category a, b, or c. a) Introduction to Business Management, Accounting, Business Mathematics & Costing, Clerical & Office Duties, Economics and Mathematics. b) Economics, Mathematics (Elective), Government, a Ghanaian Language, and Life Skills. c) General Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Economics, and Mathematics.
Faculty of Social Sciences
Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences)
Candidates must obtain passes in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies. In addition candidates must have passed two of the following subjects: Economics, Government, History, Geography and Mathematics/Statistics.
Bachelor of Management Studies
Candidates must obtain passes in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies. Candidates must also have passes in three elective subjects under Accounting/Secretarial option subjects, i.e. Accounting, Introduction to Business Management, Business Mathematics and Principles of Costing, Economics and Elective Mathematics. Bachelor of Commerce Candidates must obtain passes in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies. Candidates must also have passes in three elective subjects under Accounting option subjects. Accounting plus any two of the following subjects: Introduction to Business Management, Business Mathematics and Principles of Costing, Economics and Elective Mathematics. Bachelor of Science Tourism
Candidates must obtain passes in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies. Applicants with overall aggregate of 19-24 may enroll in the Remedial Science Program in order to enhance their chances of admission.

leading to a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics or Statistics. i. Candidates must have passes in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. ii. Bachelor of Science (Laboratory Technology) i. Candidates must have passes in Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science. ii. In addition to the above, candidates must have obtained aggregate 12 or better in the following elective subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics with grades not lower than D in two subjects. iii. Candidates who satisfy the requirements in (i) above but have obtained aggregates 13-15 in the three of the elective science subjects may enroll with the Faculty of Science for Remedial Program and pass an entrance examination in order to gain admission.
School of Agriculture
Bachelor of Science (Agriculture)
i. Candidates must have passes in the following core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. ii. In addition to the above, candidates must have passes in three subjects under General Agriculture options one and two. iii. Science candidates, who want to offer Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) degree program must have passes in the following elective subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics.
