The Department continues to offer undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in Classical Civilisation and Philosophy. However, with the introduction of Philosophy, there has been a significant increase in the number of courses on offer without a corresponding increase in staffing. The Department still mount the Bachelor of Arts programmes in Classics and Philosophy.
The M.A. and M.Phil programmes in the two disciplines also continued to receive patronage. In the year under review, the Department played host to the 14th Annual Conference of the International Society for African Philosophy and Studies (ISAPS).This Conference attracted many scholars of international repute to the University. The academic staff of the Department vigorously pursued their teaching and research activities.
