This course introduces students to entrepreneurship as a career option. It explores the concept entrepreneurship, the behavioural competencies associated with it, the entrepreneurial process self employment opportunities in the economy. It further explores all the processes involved in drawing a business plan for micro businesses.
The course also aims at equipping students with the skills in starting and operating a small business successfully. It focuses on the concepts, advantages and disadvantages of being self-employed. Locating, structuring the business, record keeping, issues concerning finance, pricing, employee management, developing promotional strategies and protecting the business are all emphasized.
Through lecturers, reading and internal research, debates and group discussions, students are required to identify needs, evaluate projects for promoting entrepreneurship in the country. The course then ends with the students setting up businesses of their choice based on the business plan drawn.
