1.The Programme Philosophy: The philosophy of the programme is to develop the skills and expertise of managers that will enable them to be innovative and use management concepts in solving organizational problems.
2.The Programme Objectives are: The programme is geared towards meeting the academic and professional needs of students. That is, to provide students with the necessary training to embark on successful career in industry and commerce. Specifically, the programme aims to: •provide avenues for managers and would be managers to improve upon their expertise in the field of management. •develop the students’ ability to understand and appreciate emerging national and international business issues. •Stimulate the students to be innovative.
3.Entry requirements of admission of students: a)A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least Second Class Lower plus three years post-graduation work experience OR b)Professional qualification such as ICA, ACCA and CIMA plus three years post qualification work experience. In addition to the above, applicants will be required to attend a pre-selection interview for the determination of their suitability for the programme.
4.Programme duration Two options of the programme will available, full time and sandwich A.Full time Option i)A full-time option which will take 15 months, consisting of two semesters of course work (10 months) and five months of dissertation. ii)Students pursuing the thesis option will be expected to undertake research and submit an original thesis within two semesters after the first year. B.Sandwich Option The programme will be run for 3 sandwich semesters spanning over 24 months. A sandwich semester will normally be between the months of June and August and last for 8 weeks.
5.Structure of the Programme The programme comprises 14 taught courses. The core courses of the programme are designed to develop skills in a number of essential areas of management, and these will be delivered through case studies, lectures, seminars, group discussions and project work. In addition, students will be required to submit a management project report/project work or dissertation at the end of the programme.
