Information Literacy Skill Unit is a unit in the faculty of Arts. Its primary goal is to equip students with the necessary skills to retrieve information manually and electronically for their academic programmes and life-long learning. Students are taught to recognize when information is needed and the ability to locate, evaluate and use the needed information effectively.
Information Literacy Skills is a University-wide Course. It is a one credit hour course for all undergraduate students and is done in the first year for every fresh student. In addition to the theory, there are practical sessions which include Library tours that enable students to experience what they have been taught theoretically.
Students are taught how to search and evaluate information on the internet. They are also introduced to the various academic databases that are subscribed by the University of Cape Coast Library among other information retrieval issues.
The course available in this Unit is ILT 101: INFORMATION LITERACY SKILLS and is a one credit hour course.
